Akinreti Hails Tv Journalists Courage

World Television Day may have come and gone but for the Chairman of Lagos State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Dr Qasim Akinreti, the zeal of the Nigerian broadcasters and others in the sector is something to behold.

The World Television Day is a day set aside by the United Nations to acknowledge the impact of television and the workers in the sector in the area of socio, economic developments across the world annually on every 21 November.

Akinreti, said “in that respect, the Lagos State Council of the NUJ cannot but salute the courage and dedication of our colleagues in various television stations .we appreciate your sacrifice despite the non- payment of salaries by some private TV stations and also the unfavourable working conditions in the federal owned television stations in Lagos state as well.”

However, the Lagos NUJ Chairman was full of praises for Lagos State Government, saying “we commend the turnaround of The LTV under the Governor Akinwunmi  Ambode led administration for putting the round peck in a square hole in the leadership of the TV station.  We are proud of our colleagues, Comrade Mrs Funke Moore and other staff. We appreciate you all. Keep the flag flying.

“ To our colleagues in the Nigeria Television Authourity (NTA) Lagos Zonal Station Victoria Island and Tejuoso, we salute your courage and note your sacrifices despite the poor working conditions.

“Accordingly, we are calling on the Federal Government through the Minister of Information and Culture to improve the working conditions in NTA.”

Akinreti hereby pledged to continue to agitate for better working condition and improved welfare for Journalists during his tenure.

“Under the new beginning mantra of the current NUJ Lagos state council, we will ensure strict adherence to professionalism and welfare of our members” he said.

  1. Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog. A great read. I will definitely be back.
