The former governor of Kano state, Rabiu Kwankwaso has said no one can stop him from travelling to his home state despite a police warning against his scheduled visit on January 30.

Kwankwaso, who is now a senator said he would go there peacefully to see his constituents.

The proposed visit by the lawmaker, who is a known critic of the state governor, Umar Ganduje, has generated controversy in the state with accusations and counter-allegations emanating from different political divides.

Kwankwaso, speaking through his spokesperson, Binta Sipikin, in Kano, said he would go to the state with ”seven camera drones”, three international media outfits and, ”a host of other top national and international friends of his.”

The senator representing Kano Central Senatorial District in the Senate, added that his visit was a well-planned one that will be peaceful.

“We are coming to visit friends, families and other relatives that for a long time, we have not seen. We have coordinated this visit with seven camera drones and other apparatus that would make it a hitch free home coming,” he said.

The Kano state police command warned former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to shelve his planned visit to Kano over rising tension in the state. Kwankwaso is scheduled to visit the state on January 30, for a political rally which incidentally falls on the same day Governor Umar Ganduje’s faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is also planning to hold a rally.

Rabiu Yusuf who is the commissioner of police in the state spoke on Friday, January 26, saying the former governor should shelve his visit.
