Progress Raji, the 27-year-old man, who was arraigned at the Oredo Magistrates’ Court in Benin City, committed a major traffic offence by driving on the wrong side of the road.
Raji was not arraigned for obstructing Governor Godwin Obaseki’s convoy as has been reported by some newspapers, the Edo State Government has said.
Osagie added that during interrogation, Raji was also found to be driving without a valid driver’s license.
The Governor’s aide explained that the Edo State government places high premium on the lives of Edo people and residents of the state, which he said, is the reason, the Obaseki-led government has invested a lot of resources in restoring order to major junctions and areas that were previously notorious for heavy traffic congestion.
“Law and order is a major policy of this administration and road users must appreciate the efforts that have been made to ensure our society is sane for decent living,” he added.
