Special NUJ Commendation For Adagun: ‘His Selfless Service Invaluable’, Says Akinreti

Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos Council has described the outgoing General Manager of Lagos Traffic Radio, Abdul Rahman Adagun as a rare gem who added value to journalism while serving at the state civil service.

The GM who was sent forth with an elaborate party on Tuesday, August 20 at the Radio Lagos/Eko FM Hall is to be presented with a special commendation letter according to Chairman of the union, Dr Qasim Akinreti.

Several distinguished personalities including the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Lagos State, Mr Kehinde Bamigbetan was at the event to join Adagun who to also marked his 6Oth birthday at the occasion.

Dr Akinreti while chatting with TheLead Online, described the GM as a committed, responsible and hardworking civil servant who brought his journalism skills to bear as the pioneer GM of the unique traffic Radio.

“The Lagos NUJ will organize a special party to honour him for his numerous contributions to journalism profession and the union. He is an active member of the NUJ with credibility.

“We are proud of his achievements. And we join thousands of his well wishers to thank the almighty Allah that made it possible for him to retire without any blemish.

“This is one personality whose memories of dedication to duty and commitment to help mankind will be remembered for long in the entire Lagos civil service.”

The commendation letter personally signed by the Chairman reads thus:

“Thank you for the selfless service to the Lagos State Government. The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos State Council appreciates your valuable time you spent in Radio Lagos/Eko FM and Traffic Radio. Your Contributions are invaluable, to both broadcasting outfits.

“As a member of NUJ, you give all through particularly in congresses, voting during elections, providing a conducive environment for the union to thrive both at the Radio Lagos/Eko FM. In the Traffic Radio, you ensured that a chapel was formed before your glorious exit.

“For me personally, I cherish your support intellectually and financially to my emergence as the chairman of the Union.

“Layinka” you are truly a friend, brother and confidant. Best wishes to your future endeavours. Ilaliaman Insha Allah.”
