NPA, NSC, DPR Back AMJON Retreat On Maritime

The Managing Director of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman and the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) are to deliver lectures at the 2108 edition of Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) retreat.

Both speakers will address challenges confronting the maritime industry at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Topo, Badagry, on Saturday, December 15, 2018.

The retreat focuses on promoting a synergy between the maritime, oil & gas industries for national development.

It seeks to identify strategic importance of the inland waterways, fishing oil and gas, port charges and proffers solution.

According to statement signed by AMJON Secretary General, Roland Ekama four papers would be presented at the event by Chief Executive Officers of maritime companies and top oil and Gas agencies.

The retreat holds between December 14 and 16 2018 with stakeholders drawn from both the maritime and oil & gas sectors.

The gathering will also address challenges confronting the ease of doing business as championed by the federal government.

The Executive Secretary of the NSC will deliver paper on creation of workable tariff template to boost economic relationship between shippers and terminal operators, while the NPA boss will speak on the task of rehabilitating critical port infrastructures for national economic development.

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) will handle tank farm at port access area and how DPR can ensure sustainable hazard free operations.

The statement stated further that AMJON would honour stakeholders in the maritime sector with awards during the programme as well.
