I will Provide 40,000 Housing Unit, Clear Apapa Mess-BOG

Governorship candidate of Action Democratic Party, Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi (BOG) has pledged to build 40,000 housing unit in four years if elected governor of Lagos sate.

The Real Estate developer made the pledge during exclusive interview with TheLead Online at his AMEN Estate, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos while sharing his vision for the state.

According to the industrialist, machinery would be put in place to build 10,000 housing unit per year and he said that would be replicated in his four-year tenure if elected.

“We are committed to 40, 000 housing unit in four years with 10, 000 housing unit per year. Alhaji Lateef Jakande as governor in Lagos for four years and four months was able to build 20,000 housing units.

“With the technology available to us now, we can do far better. We have the land to provide mass housing. Our government will be willing to provide incentive for the private sector investment in real estate.

“Apart from that, we are going to build alternative roads in Lekki and Ajah axis and the same time fashioned out intermodal transportation model on water, rail and better designs of road that will encourage investors to put money into the economy.”

On how to resolve the traffic logjams occasioned by the tanker drivers around Apapa ports he said : “We are going to use our physical planning laws to ensure that there is no more container terminals whether inland or up land in Apapa.

“Every single container must be sited near water side or it jetties. Containers will be moved by badges thereby reducing traffic in Apapa and that will be terminating at the outskirt of the state through railway connection.

“The next thing is to build high speed railway from Badagry through Apapa, terminating at the extreme end of Lagos like Abule-Egba, Berger and Epe to deliver hydrocarbon products out of  the state at the boundary towns. A token will be charged for the maintenance of the state road and that will be by exiting tankers at every point.
