A gender based non- governmental organization, Voice of Ogun Women, VOW, has concluded arrangements to hold a Governorship candidates debate tagged “Ogun Women Decide”.
The debate holding on Tuesday, January 29,2019 at the main auditorium of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta will feature more than eight candidates.
According to a statement by Olufunke Fadugba, the Chairman Publicity Committee of the group, those who have confirmed their participation were Gbenga Nasir Isiaka of Alliance Democratic Party,ADC; Biodun Akinlade Allied Peoples Movement, APM; Sina Kawonise of Yes Party; Buruji Kashamu of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, and Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
While Segun Odegbami of Zenith Labour Party took permission to be excused.
The Convener of VOW, Doyinsola Ogunbiyi said the aim was to properly empower women with necessary information to enable them take informed decision at the polling centre.
She said the association was not for socials but for promotion of positive gender issues.
The candidates are expected to sign a charter with the women group on gender issues of education, health, maternal health etc
