Buhari Clinches Victory With 15,191,964 Votes

President Muhammadu Buhari of All Progrssive Congress (APC) has been relected for another term.

He defeated Alhaji Abubakar Atiku of People’s Democratic party (PDP) his closet rival with close to four million votes.

APD led in 19 states namely Bauchi, Borno, Ekiti, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Osun, Sokoto, Yobe and Zamfara States.

PDP led in 17 states namely Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Benue, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Ondo, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers and Taraba as well as FCT.

APC scored over 25% of the votes in 32 states namely Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara States as well as FCT

PDP scored over 25% of the votes in 28 states namely Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Benue, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto and Taraba States as well as the FCT.

To win a first ballot, a presidential candidate is required to have scored majority votes as well as at least 25% of the votes in at least two-thirds of the 36 states (that is 24) as well as the FCT.
