The Management of TheLead Publications (TLP), publisher of TheLead Online and TheLead Magazine, has congratulated the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams as he clocks 49.

The birthday bash takes place in Lagos on May 1, 2019.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Friday, the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of the company, Ajibola Abayomi, described the Yoruba Generalissimo as a rare breed.

The statement in parts reads thus: ‘We felicitate with this special being whose life epitomises humility, courage and success.

‘He has paid his dues among the comity of men and nations as an activist, nation builder, foremost promoter cum defender of Yoruba culture.

‘We wish him long life and prosperity and cannot agree less with the Managing Director of The Sun Newspapers, Mr Osagie Eric who once described him as a self-made man with humble background that rose to the top through hard work.

‘The MD said with what Gani has done for Yoruba race over the years as an uncommon young man, no living Yoruba man was more qualified to be honoured with title of Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land.’

‘For us, he is a rare gem among his generation. No wonder, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi was divinely guided in the 47th year of his reign to elect Gani who was born in the year he was enthroned as monarch in the ancient Oyo city. Therefore, it was not surprising that the Iku Baba Yeye, received over 470 commendation letters across the globe for making such a wise choice.

‘Our interaction with an emeritus Anglican Arch Bishop, Ayo Ladigbo buttressed the confirmation that Gani was a divine choice as leader.

According to Ladigbolu,: ‘If God is using the instrumentality of the most respected monarch to fulfill his purpose by appointing Gani Adams as Aare Ona Kankanfo, who is quarreling with that?

‘He (Gani) was created by God as the leader of his people. All he needs to do is to know and serve his God fervently and he will live to the fullest of his days. This Aare Ona Kakanfo certainly will not die young because his life belongs to the almighty irrespective of what his adversaries say’.

Ajibola recalled that : ‘One could remember vividly his courageous struggles during the trying moments of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) in the early 2000 and how God saved him from hands of some ill-informed security operatives in Owo, Ondo State, his triumphs at the courts and several life threatening encounters. As a founding member of OPC, the Yoruba emancipation group, his name is already written in gold

‘What about his footprint during the June 12 struggle? He led a significant movement and was willing to lay down his life in order to reclaim late Aare MKO Abiola’s annulled victory as president during the 1993 presidential.

‘The manner he survived death traps during the dark days of military regime at Yaba in Lagos was a pointer to the fact he was a chosen vessel of God for the post of Aare Ona Kakanfo as Abiola’s successor.

‘Apart from bank rolling promotion of Yoruba culture in more 89 countries across the continents at the moment through his Oodua Progresive Union (OPU), our findings show that, he is the youngest Yoruba man to assume the position of Aare Ona Kakanfo and had since through public enlightenment dispelled the purported early or tragic death of Kankafos with historical facts.

‘Today, Gani, the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo leads the largest Yoruba organised army ever as his OPC has over 6 million registered members that are always available and have been defending the territory of Yoruba for years.

‘Unlike the olden days, in this mordern time, the most precious assignmemt of Kankafo being championed by Gani is Yoruba unity and peace across Nigeria. For him, this is the best way to keep the nation united.

“This is in line with the thoughts of Ladigbolu who said the instrumentality of warfare these days are aristocracies of connections, knowledge, creative, exposure and technology. All these, are at the disposal of the generalissimo to lead the Yorubaland.

‘Historical overview on this noble personality is unending. We pray that the almighty shall continue to be Iba Gani’s banner of safety as he continues to shine as role model to millions of Nigerians both home and abroad’.
