Gani Adams To Call Security Meeting, Alaafin Hails Police, OPC Partnership

Following the ratification of partnership with Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) by the Nigeria Police Force and the South West Governors, the leader of the group, Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams has expressed readiness to call Yoruba security meeting.

The meeting shall include the agbekoyas, vigilantes, community hunters, and others in the South West with purpose of checkmating crime.

The group is to complement police crime fighting in the region. Iba Adams said he would also liase with the traditional rulers on the development.

His words on: “Our royal fathers would be involved because they are in charge of their respective communities. I am very optimistic that with this development, our safety and security in the South West will be guaranteed. Criminals will no longer find their ways into the region”

Hailing the move during the visit of Iba Gani Adams to his palace on Tuesday, the Alaafin of Oyo, His imperial majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, III, applauded the police and the South West Governors partnership with the Aare Gani Adams – led OPC.

Adams visited Alaafin having met with some royal fathers, including the Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba  Dr. Jimoh Oladunni, the Onijabata of Jabata, and the Ajase monarch.

Oba Adeyemi said the partnership with the OPC would bring the much needed peace and tranquility.

“As custodian of Yoruba culture, the traditional rulers have the native intelligence of their respective domains and kingdoms. We are very close to the people at the grassroots, and on daily basis, we are fed with information that is crucial to the growth and development of the region.”

“For instance, in Oyo town and its environs, I have all the information from across all the 14 local governments in the state. So, the traditional rulers will always have their ears on the grounds on all issues, especially, issues that have to do with the safety and security of their respective domains.”
