JIFORM To Engage Customs On Border Management

Journalists International Forum For Migration (JIFORM) by Saturday, May 9, 2020 will engage the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on issues relating to border management and trade facilitation .

Activities of the NCS have far reaching implications on the economy as a body empowered by the law to regulate business transactions at the border posts.

The engagement according to JIFORM became imparative with a view to add value and deepen knowledge about the nation’s economy.

Recently, JIFORM amidst COVID-19 organised a virtual migration and economic summit with participation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Gambia and Nigeria respectively, Malawi Police Authority, Zimbabwe Editors Forum, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) and the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

Ajibola Abayomi, the President of JIFORM said in furtherance to the body’s drive to engage key agencies contributing to the economic and humanity growth in nations, NCS ranked as lead agency on trade facilitation and border affairs in Nigeria.

“On matters relating to border and trade facilitation, we are critical stakeholders as migration journalists. Ours would be a constructive engagement with the agency having under studied it’s operations for years.

“Lots of issues are at stake. JIFORM as parner in progress looks forward robust interactions with more government institutions across the world particularly as post pandermic era commences.”

The JIFORM President said the foundation championing advocacy against irregular movement and trafficking of human, drug and products had already zealed an arrangement with the National Public Relations Officer of the NCS, Deputy Comptroller, Joseph Attah on the interactive session.
