NIS Resumes Migrant-e Registration With NCDC Rules

Consequent upon the gradual easing of the Covid-19 lockdown nationwide by the Federal Government of Nigeria , the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede, MFR has directed commands to gradually commence Migrant e-registration exercise from Wednesday 1st July, 2020.

This directive was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Deputy Comptroller of NIS, James Sunday, the Spokesman of the agency in Abuja.

The NIS boss also ordered that the precautionary measures against Covid-19 as provided by National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) should be followed strictly.

The measures include: Routine environmental cleaning of the Registration Centres before migrants are granted access and checking of  body temperature with the prescribed tools.

At the centers facilities to be provided also include sanitizers and soap for washing hand.

The officers were directed to implement no face mask no entey rule at the registration centres,  observance of social/physical distancing as prescribed (two metres apart) with single entry and exit point to control and monitor flow of migrants at each point

James stated that the CGI was expecting maximum compliance from both the operatives at the frontline and the migrants as a safety and precautionary measure to curb person to person spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and safeguard lives.
