PJAN Conderms Attack On Photo Journalists In Lagos


Attack on three photo journalists has been condermed  during the #ENDSARS protest in Lagos.


In a statement signed by the Chairman, Photojournalists Aszsociation of Nigeria (PJAN)Lagos Chapter, Mr Kola Olasupo, the body lamented that two of her members from The Nation Newspapers, Deputy Photo Editor, Comrade Isaac Jimoh Ayodele and Abiodun Williams were victims of the attack.

Ayodele, the Internal Auditor of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Lagos Council almost lost his life when he was attacked by hoodlums at Mofoluku area in the state while  carrying out his official duties.

He was manhandled when he went to get the shots of the burnt Makinde Police Station located in the Mafoluku and narrowly escaped death after much beating while Abiodun Williams was attacked at Yaba with his camera completely damaged.

Also, Mike Otogo a Photojournalist with The Economy Magazine was attacked at Ojudu when he went to cover the vandalisation of the Ojodu Police Station set ablazed by hoodlums.

He was lucky to escape, but his camera was snatched and smashed.

Olasupo lamented that: “This attacked is one too many, we are  pleading with the protesters to see us as partners who believe in their cause and allow our members to carry out their lawful duties.”

The chairman urged his members, to stay safe and be security conscious while on duties.

He said the Amassociation sympathized with the victims and prayed against future occurrences of the unfortunate incidents.
