Ahmadiyya Weds 20 Couples, Award For Akinreti Others

The 2017 Jalsa Salana (Annual Conference) of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Nigeria recorded an unprecedented presence of over 35,000 participants as 20 coupled wedded at the occasion

The solemnizaton (Nikah) which took place at the event 65th edition of the Jalsa Salana was held between 22nd and 24th December, 2017.

Clerics offered prayers asking that Allah should bless the unions and grant the couples understanding.

The event was held at Jamia Ahmadiyya Conference Ground, Owode Road, Ilaro, Ogun State.

At the Jalsa Salana, Ahmadiyya Academic Awards were given to 37 male and female in various disciplines. The awardees include Dr Qasim Olalere Akinreti, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council.

23 males and 14 females received awards in the following categories; five PHD holders, 11 master’s degrees holders, 19 first degrees graduates and two A’ Level holders.

Speakers at the event urged Muslim faithfuls and other Nigerians to keep upholding the tenet of peace in order to promote social order as entrenched in the Quran.

The Amir, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Nigeria, Dr Mashhud Adenrele Fashola admonished the religious and political leaders in the world to respect and uphold the commandments of God in governance and justice administration.

He posited that no human efforts or activities of any government agencies or leaders can solve the enormous global challenges.

He enjoined the leaders and followers to adhere to the divine teachings, commandments and laws with a view to promote peaceful and build just societies.

On the theme of the conference “Social, Political and Economic Emancipation Through Moral Re-Orientation”, he said until man reforms himself, Allah’s blessings and mercy would continue to elude him.

The Islamic scholar counseled Muslims to ensure that justice prevail in their interactions with other people so that some negative perceptions about Islam can be changed.

Alhaji Abdul Azeez Alatoye, Naib Amir, South West added that the world was structurally retarding in social, political and economic ideological values owing to people’s failure to adhere to justice, noting that justice is crucial to the survival of mankind.

He said: “For our social, economic and political lives to be enhanced and experienced peace, we have to retrace our steps back and follow the footsteps of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

He quoted the Fifth Khalifa, Hadrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad and advised believers to follow the Holy Prophet’s ideals on how to engender global peace.

Participants at the event praised the Ahmadiyya for its contributions towards the growth and development of education and health services in Nigeria.

They urged the body to keep tasking the nation’s leaders to ameliorate the sufferings of the masses especially during the present economic hardships.
