New Nigeria Nationalists (NNN), a political pressure group has commenced 761-kilometer walk tagged New Nigeria Walk’ that would last for 45 days to demand good governance in the country.
The walk kicked off from the old National Assembly complex in Lagos and would end at the National Assembly complex, Abuja The group has therefore urged Nigerians to embrace a new order that would create the future they desire.
Addressing journalists on the importance of the walk, the National Chairman of the group, Mrs. Foluso Makanjuola-Oyenuga, said the walk was to physically demonstrate solidarity with Nigerians and emphatize with the struggling masses.
She believed that urgent and timely intervention would reassure the disturbed and distressed populace despite the frightening situation in the country.
She lamented that It was undeniable that Nigeria is today in a desperate situation and the survival of this greatly promising nation was under real and serious threat both from internal instability and external hostility.
“This trek is designed to intimate all relevant stakeholders with our vision, passion, compassion and commission to birth a great nation. Indeed, every hour, the battering waves of contentions, conflicts and confrontations are violently and ruthlessly shoving the country further away from the shores of peace, prosperity and progress with the risk of the total breakdown of personal and collective safety, security and stability”.
While charging Nigerians to strive and rekindle the hope and reenergize their faith in the possibility of a better and greater future, she averred that the New Nigeria Nationalists was a profound response to the frantic call.
National Coordinator, Yinka Quadri who called for proactive measures rather than blaming any past or present governments, was of the opinion that inclusion of every Nigerian would facilitate smooth running and good governance in the country.
He said the New Nigeria Nationalists platform was to rally round the Nigeria citizens on the need to stay at home so as to leverage on the opportunities that are abound instead of being maltreated, killed and enslaved in other countries.
Quadri said the future of Nigeria lies in the hands of her citizens that all hands must be on deck to herald the birth of new nation that we all desire.
