Just less than a month when an 11-year-old hyperrealist artist, Kareem Waris Olamilekan who drew a stunning portrait of French President, Emmanuel Macron in just two hours on the spot became a revelation, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council has applauded the discovery of yet another talented nine years old girl in the state.
The Union posited that it was a good omen for the future of the nation.
Dr Qasim Akinreti, the chairman of Lagos NUJ said “this is an indication that the nation is beginning to produce quality hands to thinker the knowledge economic process and lay a good foundation for quality information dissemination at all levels.
He made the comment while saluting the courage of a computer whiz kid, Emmanuella Oziofu for her astonishing innovation in the field of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Emmanuella, a Grade 5 student of Skycrest Schools in Lagos defiled all odds at her tender age to set an enviable record by developing of apps and websites within two years.
The baby girl, born on 7th of January 2009 who was showcased to the media at the NUJ Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja on Friday demonstrated uncommon skills while illustrating her web knowledge.
To the admiration of audience, the kid declared “my intention is to set up a computer academy in future where people will acquire ICT skills for empowerment.”
Her dad, John Oziofu Mayaki who heads Coalition for Good Governance and Economic Justice in Africa, said he had to enroll Emmanulla at a computer school at the age of seven when he found it too difficult to curtail her passion for ICT objects like phone, ipad and computer.
“At home I couldn’t cope with several questions she normally posed to me regarding my computer set and she would always want to have to herself, I had no choice than to take her to a computer school during an holiday and thereafter she became a revelation” he said.
Amazingly within the spate of two years, the girl had designed over 10 websites and 10, all functioning on Google and play store has a diploma in Desktop Publishing, Advance Excel, Adobe Page Maker, Advance Power Point and Corel Draw.
Emmanuella calls her creation “the Food Website”, and this quite plainly understates its purpose, which is a beautiful testament to the young lady’s humanity. She designed “the Food Website” to encourage people, including parents and their children to imbibe a culture of eating healthy local and international dishes.
The chairman of the occasion, Mr Lekan Otufoludurin, the Managing Editor, The Nation newspaper online said: “Today history is being made through this young lady. It is a great feat for our country that a nine year old girl is toeing this path. This is worth encouraging by both the government and private sector.
Otufodurin said the requirements for media practice have changed in the recent times hence the need for the media practitioners to embrace ICT.
Mr Boluwaji Apanisile, one of the instructors of Emmanuella and Director, GTP computer was full of praises for the girl describing her as rare gem.
