Sanwo-Olu Is Imposition, Agbaje Product Of Primaries- Buknor Akerele

Former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs Kofoworola Buknor- Akerele in this interview with Ngumah Isaac reacted to few posers on the state of Nigerian politics.

Atiku Abubakar combined with Peter Obi to contest the 2019 presidential poll, what is your impression about their aspiration?

That is fantastic. Atiku is transparent. He has been the Vice President and he is a business man. He knows what it takes to manage the economy and Peter obi is a very brilliant man looking at all his qualifications. I think we have an excellent combination.

Vice President Yemi Osibanjo did urge the Yorubas and Afenifere to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari so that in 2023 the South West will get the presidency, would you say the calculation was right?

I don’t know whether it will be their own turn or not because we have had our own turn in the West. The people that have not had their own are the Ibos. Are we going to push the Ibos away and the Yoruba will come up again after Chief Olusegun Obasanjo ruled from 1999 to 2007? I don’t think that is right for national unity.

Some Nigerians have said the performance of President Muhammadu Buhari was poor in some instances due to the people that are in his cabinet, do you share this sentiment?

They say birds of a feather flocks together so if he is surrounded by rogues, his personality will subject of debate because he claimed he was a man of integrity

There were amendments to the electoral act before now, why do you think the president withheld his assent?

I don’t know why the president has refused to sign the electoral act because it seemed the act guarantee free and fair election.  I can only imagine that the APC in the usual manner wants to rig.

Governorship election will hold days from now in Lagos, how will you rate the main contenders?

We all know where Babajide Sanwo-Olu of All Progressive Congress (APC) is coming from, he was handpicked but Jimi Agbaje OF Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged through the primaries.

The performance of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode according to his party could not earn him second term some have attributed that to godfatherism, what is your view on that?

Ambode is not my party but I think he has tried. We have seen that he done quite a few things. The only problem is waste disposal which has been a disaster. godfatherism has taken an ugly dimension because it has not allowed us to produce our best in Lagos state.
