African traditional religion worshipers under the aegis of Orisa Leaders have ended their relationship with Erelu Lola Ayorinde, the Erelu Tunwase of Ode-Remo, as their Administrative Officer.
The leaders in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Fayemi Fatunde Fakaye, the Aare Agbefaga of Yorubaland made the position of the leaders known.
In a letter addressed to Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, the publicity Secretary said they had severed their relationship with her.
The letter titled “unanimous agreement of Orisa Leaders” reads as follows:
“Following the conclusion of Orisa Leaders Conference coordinated by Erelu Lola Ayorinde, the Erelu Tunwase of Ode-Remo and chaired by Oba Elerimo of Elerimo of Erimo Ijesha, which took place in Ile- Ife between January 24 and 26, 2019, all organizations of Orisa followers (African Traditional Religion) have on Monday February 4, in a meeting unanimously agreed to register under a global umbrella body as our mouth piece.”
The Orisa Leaders stated that they have resolved to be recognised under an overall body to be known under “Association of Ajo Esin Abalaye Adulawo of Nigeria” which was registered under the ordinance of June , 2018 as ARSADIC.
The leaders claimed that the association has been in existence since 1795 and was first gazetted in 1959 under the ordinance as “Ancient Religious Societies of African Descendants Association (ARSADA).
At the moment, ARSADA under the leadership of its President, Chief Dr Sola Olalekan Atanda has 80 groups registered under her umbrella with Chief Esuniyi Akanni Olagboyega as General Secretary.
“We implore anybody or group who is not authenticated as Administrative Officer of ARSADA to stop parading his or herself as our representative. Anything contrary to this will be seen as impersonation” Fakayode said.
