Lagos: Angry ADP Gov Candidate Says APC Rigged For Sanwo-Olu

Angered with electoral proceedings during the Lagos state governorship election on Saturday, the governorship candidate of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi Olalere has alleged that the poll was rigged by the ruling Al Progressive Congress (APC) in favour of its candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He made the assertion around 4:30 pm while the results of the poll were still being awaited.

According to him the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had comprised the poll in favour of the APC.

Speaking with a team of journalists led by the chairman of Lagos state Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Dr Qasim Akinreti at his Ikorodu residence, he accused journalists of not being fair to all parties during election.

‘It was an open secret that an APC Senatorial candidate in Niger State was in charge of card readers for this election and yet journalists did not talk. On the other side, this election is being rigged by the APC and no investigative journalism to that effect’ he said.

Attempts by the Lagos NUJ chair to defend the media almost led to free for all and total breakdown of decorum expected from a respected politician as Gbadamosi’s supporters harassed the media crew out of his residence.

The chairman had ordered that journalist should end the interview session when Gbadamosi was getting emotional with his reactions to questions on his perception about the poll.

It took the intervention of some persons before normalcy could be returned as the ADP candidate miscued comments on his attitude perceived as ‘arrogance and insulting to the media’.
