The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, has inaugurated executives for the Asia chapter of the Oodua Progressive Union (OPU) in Malaysia and India.

The new executives are Chief Bashorun O. Olamilekan Hamza and Alhaji Luqman Adedire as  Asia Coordinator  of OPU in India and General Secretary of OPU in Malaysia respectively.

OPU, which spreads across 85 countries, is a socio economic group cum pan-Yoruba organisation.

It was formed by Iba Gani in 2011 as platform to unite and connect Yoruba’s sons and daughters in Diasporas with their ancestral lineages.

Further to that, the body focuses on working for the common interest of Yoruba land.

In a statement issued by the office of Aare Onakakanfo, Iba Gani charged the new executives to promote the ideals of the group by ensuring unity among their members.

“I want to congratulate the new Excos, on their new appointments. They are men and women of note and their records speak volume.

“So I think their new positions have created a better opportunity for them to serve the Yoruba race.  Whatever we do as a group is an attestation to our resolve to build and project the cultural identity of our race” he said.
