The maiden Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Easter celebration for journalists received a major boost on Friday as prominent preacher, Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe popularly called Genesis accepted invitation to be part of the event.
The occasioned tagged ‘1st Get Together Easter’ is slated for Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Secretariat of the Union on 9a Iyalla Street, Alausa-Ikeja.
The global pastor and shepherd of Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Genesis Parish, Alakuko, Lagos State personally called at about 6:20 pm on Friday and expressed readiness to be part of the programme.
Speaking, Prophet Oladele said: ‘I will be there. It is a privilege to be invited by journalists and to be in the midst of news makers.’
This is first time in the history of the union such event will be holding in honour Christian journalists after observing the Lenten.

Other anoinfted men of God expected at the occasion include Pastor Lekan Otufodurin, former Managing Editor at The Nation newspapers who will deliver a sermon on Essence of Easter and Nation Building and another media practitioner Pastor Banji Oluwalana, formerly with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) who will lead the praise and worship session.
In a statement issued by the chairman of Lagos NUJ, Dr Qasim Akinreti, he said, ‘I rejoice with our Christian brothers and sisters for this unique day. All praises to Almighty God.
‘The symbolism of today lies in steadfastness, piety and obedience to our Creator. Dear Comrade, let these principles guide and guard our lives.
‘In furtherance to this, the Lagos Council is organizing a prayer session and get together for the celebration of Easter next week Monday.’
