Human Trafficking Kingpin Arrested As 28-Year-Old Woman Rescued From Oman

National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, Lagos Command has again secured the safe return of another victim of trafficking for labour exploitation from Oman within the space of one month.

The victim, a 28 years old female trafficked to Oman by two suspects under the pretense of securing a lucrative job for her.

The victim on getting to Oman met another thing entirely so she managed to send a distress call to her relatives and the report to NAPTIP for further action.

The Command immediately swung into action and arrested the two suspects.

While in custody, the Command compelled the arrested suspects to facilitate the safe return of the victim within the space of two weeks.

The victim returned on 23rd July 2019 she was admitted into the shelter, debriefed and has been reunited with her family.

The Lagos Commander of NAPTIP – Daniel Atokolo in his reaction to the success of the operation reiterated the Zero tolerance for human traffickers by the Director General of NAPTIP – Dame Julie Okah Donli.

He stressed that the Director General has always maintained that there was no hiding place for traffickers in Nigeria and that offenders must be brought to book.

He equally commended the untiring efforts of the officers and men of the Lagos Command to ensuring the safety of members of the public within the Zonal Command against trafficking.
