Journalists International Forum For Migration, JIFORM leadership on Monday visited the Headquarters of International Organisation For Migration (IOM) in Nigeria in Abuja.
JIFORM sought the support of IOM towards its proposed international conference on migration slated for November 25-29, 2019 in Abuja.
According to the JIFORM delegation that comprised, Ajibola Abayomi, the President of the body and Mr Lateef Oladimeji Salam, the Continental Head of African Youths Commission for Development in Africa, the conference with a theme addressing the menace of migration to re-orientate our national values would attract participants across the globe.
Ajibola while presenting a proposal on the summit to the Chief Mission of IOM, Nigeria, Mr Frantz Celestin urged the agency to support the initiative for the good of humanity.
He praised the IOM for various interventions on migration related matters in the country.
Responding, Mr Celestin said the conference was a welcome development but however said IOM would review the proposal and communicate back to JIFORM in due course.
He said the agency had been working with various institutions of government in Nigeria for humanitarian services beyond migration and would always be willing to work with others to achieve results.
