Two Nigerien’s who had attempted to open fire in defiance to arrest had been arrested by men of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) attached to the joint border security team in Katsina State.
The incident took place at border operatives of the NIS at Kongolam, Katsina State in a swift operation intensified after the visit by the duo of the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede MFR and his Custom counterpart Col, (rtd) Hammeed Ibrahim Ali of the Nigeria Custom Service.
Both comptrollers were on assessment level of the cooperation, synergy and successes so far in the state and enjoined the operatives in Katsina to keep the border safe in the spirit of National Security.
The gallant operatives had to overpower the gun men living one dead and the other who survived was helping with useful information about their activities.
After due interrogation and profiling the surviving criminal has been handed over to the police for further necessary action.
Comptroller of Command Bin Umar and his men were commended by the CGI Babandede and a statement to the media, the NIS boss stated that the Border Drill Exercise Operation Swift Response was yielding positive result with arrests of irregular migrants, criminal elements and smugglers whose activities have been checked and security step up in the interest of the nation.
The NIS boss charged the border communities to desist from conniving with bad the eggs to sabotage government effort.
Meanwhile the nationwide spot assessment by the two Comptrollers General and representative of the National Security Adviser has been adjudged to be successful.
