JIFORM: The Man Isiguzo

On Saturday, May 9, 2020, the President, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Chief Chris Isiguzo, will address migration journalists across the world under the aegies of Journalists International Forum For Migration (JIFORM).

The body comprised over 150 journalists across the  continents focusing on migration reporting, advocacy against irregular migration, human trafficking and crises causing internal displacement of citizens in Nations. Isiguzo is to deliver a key note address on Management of National Security: The Role of the Media.

Brief Profile of Comrade Christopher Ikechukwu Isiguzo,
President, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Born in Umuahia, Abia, Eastern Nigeria, Chistopher Isiguzo is the President of the Nigeria Union of
Journalists (NUJ). He read Mass Communication.
He started his Journalism career in 1999 as a reporter and correspondent in various states and has been
assigned responsibilities such as Sub-Editor, Editor, and Bureau chief in various platforms including Thisday Newspapers.

He began active union activity as the Financial Secretary, Correspondent Chapel in Imo state in 2004 and
also served as NUJ State Officer in Ebonyi State in 2007 and has since gone through various council
leadership positions. Isiguzo was appointed National Ex-officio of NUJ by Mohammed Garba led
administration in 2009 and was later elected as two-term Vice President of the Union in charge of Zone
C, South east from where he contested and won as the President of the NUJ in 2018.

Chistopher Isiguzo is a known public affairs analyst on radio and television across the
country and even beyond. In 1998, he contested for the councillorship of his ward in Umuahia, Abia
State . He founded the Nigeria Youth Firm for better Tommorrow, a Youth Empowerment Initiative
where young people are mentored on how to play positive roles in the society. The organization has also
empowered countless number of less privileged Nigerians. His active involvement in Community Service impacted
on his election as the current President General of his town union, Umukabia Progressive Movement
Federated Worldwide. He holds several chieftaincy titles including Ugosinachi 1 of Umukabia, Garkuwan Mattasan Arewa and Magakatadar Jalingo.
As the President of Nigeria Union of Journalists, the only body of Journalists in the country, with
membership strength of over 40,000, Chistopher Isiguzo presides over a union of professional Nigerian
journalists spread across the thirty-six (36) States of the country; including Abuja, the Federal Capital
He is also a member of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), Federation of African Journalists
(FAJ), West African Journalists Association (WAJA), and the Nigeria Labour Union (NLC), amongst others.
Chistopher Isiguzo who represents a new generation of pro-active and dedicated African journalists is a
hardworking Nigerian and a visionary media professional.
He’s happily married with children.
