The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on Tuesday at the Virtual Commissioning of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service urged the agency to put an end to concerns about the nation’s porous border.
Speaking at the occasion held at the ministry in Abuja, he called for patriotic approach to the operations of the NIS at the border flank in order to put a stop to the detesting word “porous borders”.
According him such “a narrative that must of necessity change when indolence, indiscipline and corruption is addressed by imbibing the good spirit of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.”
Aregbesola said this could be achieved by ensuring conducive atmosphere for investors and businesses to thrive with ease in Nigeria.
The minister thereafter spoke with the Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazak to commission the Kwara state NIS complex on his behalf.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Interior, Barrister Georgina Ekeoma Ehuriahmon congratulated the minister for being a blessing to all the services under the ministry, as many projects were commissioned during his tenure.
Adding his voice to the development, the Comptroller General of the NIS, Muhammad Babandede, MFR appreciated the minister for the support and executive approvals gotten through his good office.
He said that had made it easy for key projects to be accomplished within a short period of his assumption as the minister of interior.
