The Journalists International Forum For Migration (JIFORM) on Monday appointed Ousman A Marong as the Chairman of the foundation’s Committee on Contact and Mobilisation in Gambia.
The body with Headquarters in Nigeria has over 200 journalists spread across the continents covering migration and leading advocacy again human trafficking in it’s fold.
The named committee is saddled responsibility of mobilising journalists to attend the summit and also further help to entrench migration reportage culture among the media in the nation.
A statement issued by JIFORM General Secretary, Juliet Makwama in Lusaka, Zambia made available to news men said:
“Dear colleagues, we have a month in between before we hold our virtual international migration summit for 2020.
“As we gear up, we are pleased to announce a new development from Gambia in relation to JIFORM 2nd Annual summit slated for October 15-17, 2020.
“Sequel to this, Mr Ousman A Marong has been appointed as the Chairman of Gambia Mobilisation and Contact Committee for the summit” she stated.
Marong, is the Secretary of Reporters Association of The Gambia (MiRAG).
Other members of the committee are Sarjo Camara, the President of Women Journalists Association in Gambia and Biriam S. Jobe, also from Gambia.
Juliet added that : “We wish the committee the best of luck as they take up the responsibilities involved.
“We have confidence that your contributions will indeed go a long way in championing the agenda of JIFORM in Gambia and Africa.”
